Don Mancini Confirms A Child’s Play TV Series And Details

Child’s Play franchise started in 1988, and it is based on Chucky,  a doll that is possessed by the spirit of a repeat murderer. There have been seven films so far, and more have been rumored. In fact, there was a time when it was speculated that the franchise would have a crossover with A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Mancini confirmed that Child’s Play the series will consist of 8 episodes and each episode will be an hour long.

Since a TV series is in the works, we can’t be sure whether the earlier mentioned sequels, among which one was based on a number of Chuckys from the Cult of Chucky will be turned into the TV series or they will keep going on the big and small screen simultaneously.

Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly have voiced Chucky and his bride Tiffany in the movies, and they might be coming back, although, Mancini’s tweet doesn’t mention anything about casting.

In recent times, we have seen Mancini do a lot of work for the small screen after he spent a career mostly on writing for big screen movies. Among his credits is a Hannibal episode as well as various Channel Zero episodes.

In the tweet, Mancini doesn’t mention the location or the format of the TV series.

Earlier in 2018, Mancini had informed Bloody Disgusting about his development of a Child’s Play series co-existing in the same universe as the movies and also featuring Dourif’s voice, instead of opting for the easier ‘reboot’ option and starting the TV series from scratch.

We plan to use Child’s Play in the title,” Mancini had said. “We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.”

Another such project, the Tremors series from SYFY was rejected by the network despite fans wanting it and the association of Kevin Bacon, who hasn’t been seen in this series right from the original Tremors movie.

As of now, no release details are available about the Child’s Play TV series and this story is expected to develop over the next few months!
